Aviation · Aircraft acquisition

A private aircraft.
A connected acquisition record.

Bring commercial, legal and technical work into one private transaction workspace. Know who reviewed the records, what remains unresolved and which conditions precede delivery.

Illustrative acquisition process

From pre-buy review
to the next obligation.

The right sequence depends on the aircraft, contract, registry and jurisdiction. Qualified advisers define the requirements.

STEP 01

Establish the parties and authority

Invite the buyer, owner, broker, transaction counsel, technical adviser and maintenance organisation. Record who can instruct, review and sign.

What goes into the project
Identity/entity records, mandates and approved access roles.
What the team can see
A clear responsibility map before sensitive records are shared.
STEP 02

Agree the transaction and review scope

Upload the purchase agreement and agree inspection scope, acceptance conditions, governing documents and timetable.

What goes into the project
Agreement versions, confidentiality terms and counsel-approved deadlines.
What the team can see
Everyone works from the same agreed document set.
STEP 03

Inspect the aircraft and its records

Arrange the pre-buy appointment and upload the technical records, maintenance history, inspection findings and supporting media.

What goes into the project
Airframe, engine and component records; inspection reports and photographs.
What the team can see
A technical reviewer can identify missing records and unresolved findings.
STEP 04

Resolve title and technical conditions

Legal advisers review ownership, recorded interests and required releases. Qualified technical reviewers assess findings and agreed rectification.

What goes into the project
Title-search results, discrepancies, rectification evidence and reviewer decisions.
What the team can see
Unresolved conditions remain assigned and visible before acceptance.
STEP 05

Prepare closing, delivery and registration

Coordinate signed documents, external payment confirmations, insurance, export/import requirements where applicable and delivery acceptance.

What goes into the project
Bill of sale, releases, registry documentation and handover checklist.
What the team can see
No assumption that registration alone proves ownership or that software certifies airworthiness.
STEP 06

Continue the ownership record

Keep warranty matters, post-delivery actions, maintenance appointments and later document requests connected to the aircraft project.

What goes into the project
Follow-up reports, messages, appointments and acknowledgements.
What the team can see
A continuing history after the acquisition, with role-based access.
ACQUISITION DETAIL

An inspection finding should not disappear at delivery.

The pre-buy inspection identifies a discrepancy. Keep the report, agreed remedy and authorised acceptance together as commercial and technical teams prepare for handover.

Clearer unresolved conditions and fewer disconnected handoffs before delivery.

Illustrative workflow. Scope and availability are agreed for the engagement.

What can go wrong

A missing record can delay a decision.

Illustrative acquisition workflow. Technical, registry, tax and legal conclusions remain with qualified specialists.

The technical history is incomplete.

A missing aircraft or component record holds up the pre-buy review.

Request the missing file in context.

Assign an owner, link the record to the aircraft and preserve the response.

Acceptance conditions have changed.

The commercial team and technical adviser may be using different agreement versions.

Make the agreed version explicit.

Connect amendments, inspection findings and the checklist used for the next decision.

A discrepancy survives delivery.

The transaction closes while an agreed remedy or later question still needs attention.

Keep the obligation connected.

Link the discrepancy, responsible party, agreed action and later communications.

This workflow is not an airworthiness determination or a substitute for technical, registry, tax or legal advice. Funds remain with the parties and appointed providers.

Research checked 28 September 2026. US-specific examples inform this workflow, not a universal registration checklist.

Map your acquisition.

Bring the handover or review that takes too much chasing. We will map its people, documents and next actions, then clarify the right configuration.
