Maritime · Pre-owned yacht acquisition
A complex purchase.
Every party accounted for.
One record of the purchase.
A buyer, seller, broker, lawyers and surveyors working across borders. Bring the diligence, deadlines and decisions into one private workspace, with access defined for each participant.
Fictional transaction. This illustrates a configurable workflow, not legal advice, a yacht listing or a live maritime product release.

From first invitation to aftercare
What actually happens
inside the workspace.
Documents, appointments, reports and messages become part of the process rather than separate handoffs.
STEP 01Set up the private transaction
Invite the buyer, seller, brokers, lawyers and survey company. Record identity checks, professional roles and authority to act.
- What goes into the project
- Party details, company documents, mandates and scoped check results.
- What the team can see
- Each person sees only the material permitted by their role.
STEP 02Bring the agreement into the project
Upload the sale agreement, agreed inventory and relevant translations. Legal reviewers confirm the controlling version and contractual notices.
- What goes into the project
- Source documents, versions, translation attestations and signatory authority.
- What the team can see
- Signing and acknowledgements reference the precise document version.
STEP 03Arrange inspections together
Propose the survey, haul-out, sea trial and legal-review appointments inside the project. Confirm the participants, location and timezone.
- What goes into the project
- Appointment invitations, confirmations, access arrangements and related messages.
- What the team can see
- The team sees who confirmed and which documents are needed beforehand.
STEP 04Review reports and exceptions
The surveyor uploads the condition report and supporting photographs. Legal advisers review title, encumbrances and tax/import documentation.
- What goes into the project
- Report versions, findings, images and human reviewer responses.
- What the team can see
- Findings become assigned actions. Deadlines follow the contract, not a generic template.
STEP 05Resolve conditions and complete delivery
Record the buyer’s notices, agreed remedies and confirmations from appointed external providers. Upload the bill of sale and delivery protocol.
- What goes into the project
- Final contracts, release documents, delivery evidence and authorised decisions.
- What the team can see
- Closing dependencies remain visible. Exedra Gate does not receive or release purchase funds.
STEP 06Keep the relationship after handover
Schedule warranty follow-up, outstanding items, service appointments and risk-based re-verification where required.
- What goes into the project
- Later updates, acknowledgements, maintenance documents and correspondence.
- What the team can see
- The transaction record remains connected to the continuing relationship.
ACQUISITION DETAILA survey exception becomes a clear next step.
The surveyor identifies an issue before delivery. Buyer, seller and counsel need the same finding and a clear record of the agreed response.
Less ambiguity about who must respond before the purchase moves forward.
Illustrative workflow. Scope and availability are agreed for the engagement.

Closing remains blocked until the responsible reviewers confirm all contract-specific conditions.
Participants see only what their role permits. Identity verification, authority to act and professional credentials are separate checks. A recorded check is not a guarantee of future conduct.
What can go wrong
The value is in the handoffs.
Exedra Gate organises the work and its records. Surveyors, legal advisers and authorised parties remain responsible for their decisions.
The deadline is buried in an email.
A survey report arrives but the contractual notice window is missed.
Make the obligation visible.
Link the deadline, owner, report and delivery evidence. Escalate an outstanding step.
The parties are reviewing different versions.
A translated amendment no longer matches the signed source.
Bind the version and attestation.
Connect the source, translation and translator attestation, then request the relevant new responses.
The closing file has a missing condition.
A release document or required confirmation has not been received.
Keep the closing gate visible.
Show outstanding conditions and the person authorised to confirm each one.
Media inside the project
Photos are useful.
Photos with context are better.
Upload authorised vessel photographs and walkthrough footage to the project. Attach survey images to the finding they support, with the uploader, date and access permissions.

Beyond the sale
Handover is a milestone.
It is not the end of the record.
Keep the signed documents, survey history, delivery conditions and later correspondence together. Provide the relevant record for a review without chasing former participants' inboxes.
For new builds, the workflow would be different: specification approval, change orders, construction stages, inspections, trials and delivery acceptance. That deserves a separate template.
A boundary that stays clear
Deposits, purchase payments and any escrow or stakeholder service remain with the contracting parties and their appointed providers. Exedra Gate records relevant confirmations; it does not hold, route or release funds.
The required documents, notices and sequence depend on the contract, flag, ownership structure and jurisdiction.
Research behind the example · checked 28 September 2026
- MYBA publications: sale-and-purchase framework, surveys and sea trials.
- International Institute of Marine Surveying: contract forms, inspection stages and notice pitfalls.
- UK Ship Register: example registration and ownership documentation requirements.
- HMRC pleasure-craft guidance: registration alone does not establish UK VAT status.
Workflow synthesis, not a reproduction of a standard contract. No fixed survey, acceptance or closing deadline is prescribed by this example.
