A relationship can change after onboarding: ownership changes, documents expire, new information appears or activity no longer fits the original profile.
There is no single annual rule for every UAE partner.
CBUAE guidance for licensed financial institutions uses a risk-based approach, with annual high-risk and three-year low-risk review given as examples. Separate guidance for licensed exchange houses specifies annual updates or earlier document expiry for relevant customer profiles. These are different scopes.
Ministry guidance for designated non-financial businesses and professions also emphasises risk-based customer due diligence. The applicable sector, risk classification and trigger events determine the review policy.
What the workflow should support
Assign the next review date, request updated documents, record new checks, escalate missing responses and retain the human review decision. A recurring task supports the process; it does not determine whether a person should pass screening.
